Dr Leo uses only IOLs with an aspheric design. The special, non-uniformly curved design of aspheric IOLs enables them to correct so-called spherical aberrations.
Monofocal IOLs provide clear vision at a single focal point—near, intermediate, or distance.
Multifocal IOLs are designed to provide clear vision at near and far distances by dividing light into multiple focal points.
Trifocal IOLs provide clear and comfortable vision at near, intermediate, and far distances.
Extended Depth of Focus (EDOF) IOLs are an advanced option that offers clear distance to intermediate vision.
Toric IOLs are specifically designed to correct astigmatism, a common condition where an irregularly shaped cornea causes blurred vision.

They provide excellent clarity with minimal optical disturbances, making them ideal for patients who prioritise clear vision without halos or glare. However, since they do not accommodate multiple distances, patients will likely need reading glasses for near tasks such as using a smartphone or reading books. Unlike other options, monofocal IOLs are generally covered by insurance and Medisave for cataract surgery.

This reduces dependence on glasses for most activities. However, some patients may experience halos or glare, particularly in low-light conditions. While multifocal lenses can improve daily convenience, they require some adjustment time.

These lenses allow good vision across most activities—from driving to reading a book, without glasses—making them ideal for those who want the greatest independence from glasses for all distances. However, some people may notice glare or halos, particularly in nighttime settings. Many patients are able to adapt to these side effects over time, making trifocal IOLs a strong choice for active individuals who engage in diverse visual tasks.

Compared to trifocal lenses, EDOF IOLs tend to have fewer side effects like glare or halos at night. However, as EDOF lenses only provides some functional near vision, patients may still require reading glasses for small print.

This astigmatism-correcting lens allows an eye with astigmatism to achieve good distance vision with significantly less dependence on glasses. Toric IOLs are available in monofocal, multifocal, trifocal, and EDoF designs, ensuring tailored correction for different visual needs.
